Below I have listed four ways that you can help yourself get at least a minimum of 7-8 hours of sleep whilst you’re on the road. Before we get into it, however, let’s establish that a regular night’s sleep usually comprises approximately 6-8 hours. This may seem like a negligible amount, but it’s actually quite important as it allows you to function properly throughout the day without being under the effects of fatigue. This allows you to maintain high productivity levels and perform better at work or in your studies.
Let’s look at the different ways of falling asleep and how to choose the one that works best for you:
1. Watch A Movie / TV Show / Podcast. Going to sleep while you’re watching a movie or television show isn’t exactly ideal as it causes eyestrain and disrupts your active participation in the show.
These types of media make people drowsy even if they’re sleeping, so it isn’t recommended. Instead, try using some ear plugs to seal off your ears from all the noise. This will allow you to fall asleep in short order. You don’t want to overload your brain with too much noise, so I recommend using a decibel rating of 20 or less when looking for earplugs.
2. Connect To The Internet. If you’re tired of watching movies and TV shows, then why not try connecting to the internet? There are many websites that contain soothing music and relaxing voices that will allow you to fall asleep much faster.

For example, if you’re a fan of action movies, then I suggest reading Tom Clancy’s “Ghosts,”; this is the type of book I prefer, as it seems to put me into another dimension when I’m reading it. If you’re looking for some horror books, then I suggest reading Stephen King’s “Night Shift”.
4. Listen To Music. There are a lot of different songs that contain sounds you can fall asleep to, so try to find one which will work well for you. If you’re looking for some relaxing music, I suggest listening to “Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel as it contains only whispers and noises which will help you relax and fall asleep quickly.
